Benefits Of Std Testing At An Urgent Care Facility
So, can urgent care test for STDs? Yes, and people often prefer to turn to an urgent care center rather than their primary care clinic when they need STD testing. Many patients experience a certain level of embarrassment when discussing STDs and prefer to broach this topic with a health care practitioner who doesnt know them personally.
Here are other benefits of getting tested for STDs in an urgent care facility:
- A quick care option. In most urgent care centers, you can get a walk-in or same-day appointment, quick testing, and a fast treatment recommendation. Depending on the type of STD test, you may expect a diagnosis within a few days.
- Flexible hours. Urgent care facilities are often open outside business hours, including early morning and late evening. Many urgent care centers open as early as 7 a.m. and operate as late as 9 p.m. on weekdays.
- Discreet treatment. Choosing an urgent care center for STD testing usually ensures a higher level of privacy. Some patients postpone essential STD testing or treatment because of self-consciousness. Visiting an urgent care center can help people avoid awkwardness or self-consciousness.
Depending on your insurance coverage, an urgent care center may be more affordable than visiting a hospital or a private practice. You may expect a similar level of care and medical competence with higher convenience and lower costs.

What Are Symptoms Of Seasonal Allergies
If you have hay fever, seasonal allergy symptoms can feel a lot like symptoms of a cold. A tip for telling the difference is to note if you have a fever or body aches. Since allergies dont cause either of these symptoms, you probably have a cold.
Seasonal allergy symptoms can range from mild to severe. The most common seasonal allergy symptoms include:
- Tight chest or pressure in the chest
- Difficulty talking
Since seasonal allergies are typically inhaled, they can be particularly problematic for people with asthma. If you have asthma, its a good idea to have a rescue inhaler ready to use during allergy season.

First See If You Can Get A Prescription For Asthma Medication
The most effective way for people with asthma to avoid the emergency room is by managing the condition with medication so it doesnt escalate to emergency status. Experts are even recommending stocking up on a three-month supply if you can. Even if its hard for you to get affordable asthma medication in normal times, it may be somewhat more accessible during the pandemic.
Health care professionals are doing their best right now to help make essential medications more accessible so we can keep people out of the E.R., Dr. Chinthrajah says. As Dr. Chinthrajah points out, in early April, the Food and Drug Administration approved a generic form of an inhaler to help make this in-demand medication easier for people to get.
So the first thing you need is a prescription for asthma medication. You may be able to get one online. The telemedicine service Galileo has waived its fees for people who need prescriptions in hard-hit COVID-19 areas like California, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington State.
You could also try calling a local pharmacy. Dr. Cohn explains that many pharmacists are more likely to refill a past prescription for asthma medication during the pandemic, or at least coordinate with a doctors office to make it happen. Everything is very different right now, she says.

Whats An Asthma Attack
When you breathe normally, muscles around your airways are relaxed, letting air move easily. During an asthma attack, three things can happen:
- Bronchospasm: The muscles around the airways constrict . When they tighten, it makes the airways narrow. Air cannot flow freely through constricted airways.
- Inflammation: The airway linings become swollen. Swollen airways dont let as much air in or out of the lungs.
- Mucus production: During the attack, your body creates more mucus. This thick mucus clogs airways.

Asthma inhaler. These come in many different forms and may contain bronchodilators and/or steroid medications or mast cell stabilizers. The inhaler is the fastest way to quickly deliver the medication from your hand-held device to your airways and lungs.
Bronchodilators can be designed to act quickly or provide longer relief and have different mechanisms of action. Beta agonists can offer quick relief to dilate the breathing tubes or come in a longer acting form. Anticholinergics take longer to kick in but aim to open airways and reduce secretions. Inhaled corticosteroids can also offer long term control. Of note some inhalers are combination agents meaning that they have two medicines in one. A spacer or mask can help with medicine delivery.
Oral steroids- Can help in more advanced situations
Supplemental oxygen- Can help if oxygen levels are low.
Antibiotics- If a bacterial infection is causing a concurrent sinus or lung infection, oral antibiotics may be needed to cure the inciting cause. Your urgent care can help.
Other: these are not the first line therapy but may be prescribed if other therapies are not adequate. Include: oral theophylline, oral leukotriene modifiers, or IV infusions or injections of biologics. These are more likely to be prescribed by a pulmonologist.

How Do I Get Tested For A Uti
You have to talk with a nurse or doctor to know for sure if you have a UTI. Testing usually begins with a nurse or doctor talking with you about your medical history and your symptoms. Theyll also do a simple test, called a urinalysis: all you do is pee in a cup, and theyll test it for certain bacteria or other signs of infection.
In addition to the urinalysis, your doctor or nurse might test you for certain STDs, which can lead to UTIs or have similar symptoms.
