Things To Know This Spring Season
With spring in the air, tree and later grass pollens will be flying everywhere. Aside from taking your allergy medications, reducing your exposure to these pollens is also very effective at reducing your symptoms. Keeping your house and car windows closed, and limiting your outdoor activities on high pollen count days will help to reduce your exposure. If you are participating in outdoor activities, try to change your clothes and/or shower immediately after the activity to wash the pollens away. Saline nasal sprays can also be helpful to wash away the pollens that you breathed in through your nose.

Food Allergy And Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic Dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition most commonly seen in children with inherited allergic tendencies. The rash typically begins during infancy, often starting on the face and neck and later progressing to the arms and legs. The rash may range in severity from scattered, mild dry patches to severely inflamed, cracked skin. Itching is almost always a problem associated with A.D. In fact, some have referred to this condition as the itch that rashes rather than the rash that itches because itching leads to scratching, which results in worsening skin irritation with additional itching and scratching. A comprehensive eczema treatment regimen involving a combination of moisturization, skin barrier protection, topical anti-inflammatory medications, and oral antihistamines is essential to breaking the vicious itch-scratch-itch cycle and controlling this chronic condition. Recognizing the triggers and aggravating factors for A.D. is also important for successful management. The most common aggravating factors include viral respiratory tract infection , sweating, soaps, perfumes, synthetic fibers, and allergies.
