I Efficacy And Mechanisms Of Actions Of Traditional Chinese Medicine For Treating Asthma
A. Clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine for asthma
1. Chinese herbal medicine for asthma as monotherapy
Wen et al 2005 reported the first double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial investigating the efficacy and tolerability of an anti-asthma herbal medicine intervention compared to oral prednisone therapy on 91 patients 1860 years of age with moderate-to-severe asthma. Subjects in the ASHMI group received oral ASHMI capsules and placebo tablets similar in appearance to prednisone. Subjects in the prednisone group received oral prednisone tablets and ASHMI placebo capsules for 4 weeks. Treatment was administered daily over 4 weeks. This study found that following treatment, lung function was significantly improved in both ASHMI and prednisone groups. The improvement was slightly but significantly greater in the prednisone group . There was a significant and similar degree of reduction in clinical symptom scores in both treated groups , use of 2-bronchodilators . ASHMI had no significant effect on body weight . No significant side effects were observed in either group. All hematological, electrocardiographic and liver and kidney function test results were normal in both groups. Thus ASHMI appeared to be effective and well tolerated, and may offer benefits comparable to standard prednisone therapy for some patients without the undesirable side-effects associated with steroid use.

Things Only A Cowboys Fan Would Understand
It isnt easy being a Dallas Cowboys fan these days. With only one playoff win in the last 17 seasons, those five Super Bowl wins are starting to feel like ancient history.
Fortunately, youre not alone. The Cowboys still have a huge national following that is the envy of most teams. Television ratings spike when the Cowboys are on national television. The Cowboys always have a large contingent in the stands when they go on the road. Cowboys merchandise continues to fly off the shelves.

Then in 1968, the Cowboys wore blue when they were upset by the Browns in the playoffs. Soon after, the Cowboys were also wearing blue when they lost Super Bowl V to the Colts, and the Blue Jersey Jinx stuck.
2. We invented The Hail Mary

What Real Estate Pros Can Learn From Watching Jimmy Johnson Run The Cowboys
Johnson taught this real estate exec that, at the highest levels, productivity and high performance were the expectation.
I dont know how you reacted to seeing Troy Aikman get weepy watching Jimmy Johnson learn of Johnsons selection into the Hall of Fame. Still, I know I darn sure had this thought: Im not certain I have kids who are going to cry at my funeral, much fewer friends willing to cry at my success.
What a blessing for Aikman and Johnsonprofessional colleaguesto have such a sincere and appreciative relationship that has lasted over three decades now.
I was in college at Southern Methodist University from 1990 to 1994, and living a small aspect of the stereotypical SMU student life with season tickets to the Cowboys for four seasons starting with the 1992 season. On top of that, I won the Super Bowl lottery for season-ticket holders twice and attended Super Bowls 27 and 28 with my wife while we were dating. It was a great run for the team, and for us, our tickets and trips mainly funded by insurance proceeds on clothing contents, books, and other incidentals damaged in a fraternity house fire.
I watched and studied those Cowboys carefully. Jimmy Johnson even impacted my choice of college degreeswhen I was selecting mine, he was the talk of Dallas and the entire NFL, and his use of his psychology degree was often mentioned. I dove headlong into the psychology program at SMU.

Ii Development Of Herbal Interventions For Food Allergy
1. Investigation of herbal interventions from TCM for peanut allergy in animal model and human in vitro study
Peanut allergy accounts for approximately 80% of fatal and near-fatal anaphylactic reactions to foods. The prevalence of childhood peanut allergy doubled between 1997 and 2002., and affects ~1% of the American population . While tremendous strides have been made in food allergy awareness, there is no satisfactory therapy to prevent or reverse the disease. Peanut allergy imparts a significant psychological burden on the allergic individuals and their families. An effective treatment would offer a life-altering option for those affected.

Did You Know
DID YOU KNOW that January is National Change Your Air Filter month?
Okay, not really, but the new year is a good time to start a new habit, of regularly changing your air filter. Mark it on your calendar or set a reminder in your phone. A regular changing can prolong the life of your heating/cooling system and create a healthier home.
The Reno/Sparks area is very dusty. To create a healthier environment and prolong the life of your equipment there are many factors to consider, when it comes to figuring out how often you should change your filter. Such as, do you have children or pets? Family with asthma/allergies? Do you or someone living in the home smoke? Do you have high pollutants outside? Well a good rule of thumb would be to change your filter at least every 60-90 days. Setting up a helpful reminder for the months below will help ensure you remember.
But if you answered yes to one of the above mentioned factors, it is best to change your filter more frequently, as allergens and dust can accumulate more quickly. More often is fine, but performing this task at least on the months suggested will help you and your family breathe easier and your equipment last longer.
Most filters can be purchased at your local hardware store, for about $20 for a pack of two. If you need help with the task please let me know. Give me a call and together we can help figure out a schedule that fits your needs.
